Retreat

Happy October, everyone!

We hope that this month has been as exciting for you as it has been for us!

Last weekend was our Fall retreat, which was filled with many new adventures for us. For this retreat we headed up to Ocoee, Tennessee for some refreshing mountain air. Once in Tennessee, we were able to stay in the beautiful Ocoee Retreat Center and surround ourselves with the great outdoors. The weekend also provided us with the opportunity to go white water rafting on the Ocoee River and experience class IV rapids. White water rafting was exhilarating, refreshing, and provided a great opportunity for sisterhood bonding.

Later on, after white water rafting, we took advantage of our great location by enjoying a bonfire and roasting marshmallows. The night also led to another unique sisterhood bonding activity filled with paint and good feelings.
Overall, retreat was a wonderful experience that left everyone feeling happy, loved, and refreshed. We look forward to using this new energy into all of our activities throughout the next month.

Beginning of Fall

September has been a very exciting and busy month for Delta Nu Zeta. We started off the semester with a wonderful Dr. Seuss themed rush filled with many creative activities thanks to our Rush and Recruitment chair, Ashley. All those who attended enjoyed learning about our volunteer work with Leon County Humane Society, making dog toys for LCHS, learning about our participation in Relay for Life while listening and sharing Relay stories, making cards for the children's hospital in Jacksonville, and participating in a Dr. Seuss themed scavenger hunt.

Rush week ended with us welcoming 18 spectacular Nus into the Chi class and with a Bid Day celebration at Fun Station.

This past Friday, we had Induction and everyone could not have been more excited to meet their bigs and littles. This year, we had a new reveal ceremony that included us surprising the Nus with their bigs at Wescott Fountain, allowing for some beautiful pictures. After reveal, we all headed to Little Italy for a delicious dinner filled with lots of family bonding.

We look forward to the many adventures in store for us this semester and cannot wait to keep everyone updated! :)

Last Call- Spring 2014

These last few weeks have been tons of fun for the sisters of Delta Nu Zeta!

After retreat and spring break, DNZ jumped right back in to helping the Tallahassee community! We started our second half of the semester by hosting a birthday party for the March birthday kids at the Big Bend Homeless coalition. Only one of our birthday kids was actually able to attend the party but being only seven days old he was a little tired.
The rest of the residents in attendance had a blast! One of our fabulous Nu members brought her Xbox and some games for the children to play which was a major success! DNZ also provided birthday cards, yummy baked goods, and put together party favors to make sure everyone had a great time!

Continuing on after such a successful service day, our two Dance Marathon participants were gearing up for their 20 hours when one of our sisters surprised us with the news of her engagement!!

Thanks to stories from our alumni and some of our current sisters' creative genius, we were able to conduct a ceremony that Delta Nu Zeta hasn't seen in a long time! Congratulations Tara! We wish you the best!!

After such an exciting event, our dancers COULD NOT WAIT to spend a weekend dancing For The Kids! Kaitlin and Kate started the Dance Marathon with sisters by their side and had many girls visit them throughout their 20 hours; some even bringing precious, and appreciated, presents! DNZ was able to raise almost 1,200 dollars, coming in second in our division. DM at FSU raised over 780,000 dollars for Children's Miracle Network!! Go NOLES!!

Danielle visits Kate and Kaitlin at the 15 hour mark; Jameis Winston visits the Civic Center and does the Line Dance to visit with Miracle Children and boost Dancer Morale.

It is never a dull moment as a Delta Nu and soon our sorority saw the Initiation of 10 new sisters!

Although not all of the girls or the festivities are pictured, everyone was so excited to welcome these lovely ladies into a permanent home away from home. We can't to see what these beautiful ladies bring to our organization and we are so happy to call them our new sisters!

DNZ'S Pink Diamond Ball took place the day after Initiation at the Front Porch in Tallahassee and Superlatives were given out. There were so many fabulous Big/Little moments and pictures that our authors could not decide which moments to feature!

As Spring began to come to a close, we gathered for one last Relay for Life with our current line up of sisters. Way to go ladies!

We said goodbye to our Seniors at Senior Flyups and we wish them all the best! Thank you so much for a wonderful, memory filled year! Stay Foxy!

Spring in Our Step

Spring has sprung here in Delta Nu Zeta and it came much earlier than March 20th! This semester, the superladies of DNZ took to the skies in search of a super Nu pledge class to hopefully Induct and Initiate as super sisters! Rush week brought us many villains (rain, snow, you know the usual thwarters of plans) but we were able to preservere and offer Bids to 10 wonderfully super Nu's!! We even had an alumnus come and visit it us during our Bid night festivities! Welcome Home Phi Class!!!

As busy and as successful as Fall was, Spring has already been just as busy and twice as successful! After Rush week we jumped into Nu week so that sisters and Nus could be to know each other and start figuring out who the Big/Little pairs should be! We went bowling, painted some beautiful pottery and finished the week off with DNZ's annual Hayride. As always, all seven of the dogs were happy to see us. This one especially wanted his picture taken.

Hayride weekend was also Sisters weekend as the Alpha and Beta chapters of Delta Nu Zeta met up at Suwannee River State Park for some sister bonding! We had a lovely lunch, played some games, explored nature, and took tons of pictures! DNZ FSU LOVES DNZ UF!

Big/Little week soon sprung upon us and it was filled with clues, presents, and anticipation by the Phi class! Phi class says they loved all of their presents and clues! Most of the girls were even able to figure out who their Big was before Reveal!
Induction brought growth to all of the families and also showed us all how lucky we are to be part of this organization!

Sisterhood Retreat Spring 2014 took place is Eufala Alabama and Providence Canyon in Georgia!

At Providence canyon, sisters and Nu's were split into the Power Rangers and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in order to play DNZ's version of the Olympic Games. Team TMNT came out victorious! After the games, we went and hiked down to the canyon where we explored and climbed as much as possible!

Providence Canyon was tons of fun and many of the girls who don't normally get to hang out with one another were able to bond! After our eventful day in the clay, everyone returned to the cabin in Eufala for dinner and pictures!

As you can see Spring has been very busy and were only half way through! We hope to have many more adventures before our Senior Sisters leave in May so look out for more updates!

Fall in Review

Even though it is late, HAPPY 2014 foxy ladies!!

Alpha chapter is getting ready to have an amazing spring semester so we thought
that it would be a fun idea to give everyone a review of Fall 2013!

Like every semester we searched the campus high and low for future foxes and we were lucky enough to find such a fantastic group of girls! Although their rush class was small, we gladly welcomed them with their bids and couldn't wait to for them to be part of our sisterhood!

Once Upsilon class had been established and inducted into the sorority it was time for retreat at Panama City Beach! Retreat was a major success as well, allowing our sisterhood to bond and learn about it each other. The beautiful beach also provided a much needed break from school and worries.

Of course outside of chapter we strived to attend football games and have sister dates to strengthen our school spirit and sister bonds!

Last fall marked our 10th anniversary as a sorority! In honor of this historic occasion, we decided to take founder's day, November 11th, to a whole new level. We planned a whole weekend around the event which included the initiation of four beautiful Nus into the sisterhood, a cook out at the Rez with our alumni sisters and brunch the next day! We are so grateful to all the alumni who were able to attend and we would like to recognize the founding sisters that were able to come out! Overall the weekend was a huge success and we learned so much about ourselves and our sisterhood. It is monumental that we just marked 10 years here at Florida State and I hope that the 20 year anniversary will be just as fantastic!

Fall wrapped up with Delta Nu Zeta's Fox Trot also known as our Semi-Formal! All of our sisters who were able to attend looked fabulous and had such a great time. Superlatives were given out and our newly initiated sisters gave their Bigs their paddles!

Fall 2013 was a ton of fun for our sisterhood and we are looking forward to a brilliant Spring semester. If you are an alumni who was not able to attend Founder's Day weekend we are sad to have missed you but we hope to see you at future events! If you're ever in town please let us know and we will try to meet up with you!!

We hope you enjoyed this review of last semester and we can't wait update you through out 2014
